She calls it, "Mom’s Chocolate “Cheater’ Cake"
My friend Kristin brought a Chocolate cake for the birthday girl and I'm not kidding, this is the BEST chocolate cake! I usually don't like the cakes dusted with powdered sugar because my past experiences were that they were usually dry and flaky. This one changed my mind about cakes without frosting. It was amazingly moist!
But first, I have to tell you a little facts about chocolate. I'm sure you all know that chocolate is an aphrodisiac. The word 'Chocolate' comes from the Aztec word, 'cachuatl' or xocolatl' which means bitter water. But did you know that chocolate is a great economy booster? People spend more than $20 billion a year on chocolate worldwide! This cake will show you why...(she served wit with fresh cream and raspberries~YUM!)
Mom’s Chocolate “Cheater’ Cake
1 box Duncan Hines “Butter Recipe Fudge” Mix (I have tried many different mixes and this one is the best- Harris Teeter has it)
1 large package of Jell-o Instant Chocolate Pudding
4 eggs (yikes!)
¾ cup water
¾ cup canola oil
½ cup sour cream (but I usually put in more for a littler more tang)
Mix all ingredients and then fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips (I probably use a whole small bag if not more)
Pour in greased bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minute
I made this cake this weekend and as advertised it was really moist and delicious. My boys loved it...even without the berries. I could not find the "Butter Recipe Fudge" so I used a regular Duncan Hines fudge mix but it was still good. I whipped it up in less than 10 minutes....easy peasy lemon squeezy.
